Abstract

1283571 Preparing maltose. HAYASHIBARA CO 11 July 1969 [12 July 1968 (2) 35195/69 Heading C2C A process for the production of high purity maltose (as defined) comprises liquefying a starch slurry, reducing the viscosity of the resulting liquefied starch solution by the addition of #-amylase, and thereafter saccharifying the liquefied starch by the addition of at least one α-1,6-glucosidase selected from enzymes produced by bacteria of the genera Escherichia, Agrobacterium, Azotobacter, Erwinia, Staphylococcus, Streptococcus, Serratia, Sarcina, Nocardia, Bacillus, Pediococcus, Micrococcus, Mycobacterium, Lactobacillus or Leuconostoc and thereafter removing the maltose or, alternatively, by treating with the α-1,6-glucosidase before treatment with the #-amylase.
