Abstract

1283351 Feeding animals M W ALDOUS and J C HITCHCOCK 30 June 1969 [29 March 1968] 15085/68 Heading A1M [Also in Division B1] An automatic feeder for liquid animal foodstuff comprises a mixing chamber having level sensing means which control the delivery thereto of solid and liquid so that the chamber is never completely emptied of mixture, and an output pump for the mixture. An embodiment disclosed in the Farmers Weekly, Vol LXX, No. 4 dated 24th Jan 1969 at P. 51 comprises a mixing tank 1 having an impeller 3 (which may be a screw) and an output pump 4 which circulates mixture round a loop 4a having eighteen branch pipes 5a-r each serving a respective feeding trough (not depicted). A distribution selector 14 opens the valves 6a-r successively to deliver pre-determined quantities to each trough. The tank I has lower and upper level sensors 7, 8; if the mixture level falls below sensor 7 a water pump 2 is started and operates until shut off by the sensor 8, when screw conveyers 2a, 2b operate under control of a time switch to deliver a predetermined amount of solid foodstuff.
