Abstract
1283304 Mine stoppings SCHWARZ MINING & INDUSTRIALS Ltd and J R KENNEDY 15 June 1971 [7 July 1970] 32817/70 Heading E1F A mine stopping that can adjust its configura'tion under compression as movement occurs in the mine consists of telescopic panels secured to a bar or bars embedded in the sides of a mine passage in abutting relationship to one another. The panel members 1, 2 are secured by bifurcated wire members twisted at 24 until the members 1, 2 are held firmly but can telescope under compressive forces. A yieldable sealing member, such as natural or synthetic rubber or a plastics material as polystyrene; is interposed between the panel edges and the passage sides and pressure sensitive sealing tape is applied to the edges of pairs of panels. To accommodate to different widths of passages an overlapping panel may be secured by a T-shaped clamp 7.
