1282901 Delivering sheets CLUETT PEABODY & CO Inc 1 Aug 1969 [21 Aug 1968] 38634/69 Heading B8R [Also in Division D1] A work handling apparatus for a cutting, printing or button sewing machine comprises a first belt 11 a second belt 30 located below the first belt and running parallel to the first for a distance, means 20, 24, 25 for moving the belts against each other, for transport of the work, or away from each other to allow insertion or removal of the work, means 22 for maintaining tension in the first belt as the belts are separated and means operatively attached to the belts for advancing both belts simultaneously and intermittently in predetermined increments. The latter means comprises, (Fig. 2, not shown) a pneumatically reciprocated rack (54) engaging a pinion (53) which is coupled for rotation in one direction to a shaft (41) carrying a sprocket (44) connected to the driving pulley 21 of belt 11 and by a chain (48) to a sprocket (44a) driving pulley 31 of belt 30. The one way coupling includes a brake operative to hold the shaft (41) during return motion of the rack. Stacking work.-Work fed by the belts overlaps a workplate 61 provided with work locating plates (64, 65, Fig. 3, not shown). When the belts release the work a pneumatically operated stacker advances to the position shown in Fig. 4 and air jets from holes fed by a conduit 56 below the plate 61 blows part of the work over the bar 95 which then swings away. An electrical system (Fig. 6, not shown) controlling the sequential operation of the pneumatically operated devices is described.
