Abstract
1282830 Lining metal tubes B S GORANSSON 22 July 1971 34428/71 Heading F2P A tube 10 formed of spirally wound metal strip is lined by locating there-within a tube 12 of a synthetic thermoplastics material having an o.d. less than the i.d. of the tube 10, softening the tube 12 by applying heat internally thereof, increasing the pressure therein so as to cause the whole of it, to expand to conform to the contour of the bore of the tube 10 and thereafter cooling the tube 12. Preferable the tube 12 is heated by hot air and cooled by cold air. The end of the tube 10 may subsequently be wound back and removed as indicated at 16 so that a portion of the tube 12 protrudes beyond the end 18 of the tube 10 and thus provides protection for any leads 22-22<SP>11</SP> emerging from the tube.
