1282755 Hydroxyphenylacetic acid derivatives BEECHAM GROUP Ltd 19 June 1970 [8 April 1969] 17986/69 Heading C2C Hydroxyphenylacetic acid derivatives of the Formula I wherein R is an alkyl, aryl or NO 2 radical, are prepared by treating the appropriate 5-(hydroxyphenyl)-hydantoins with an excess of an alkali or alkaline earth metal hydroxide to form the corresponding α - amino - (hydroxyphenyl) acetic acids and reacting these acids in situ with the corresponding benzyl chloroformates.
