Abstract

1282390 Polyvinylidene fluoride pen cores KUREHA KAGAKU KOGYO KK 29 Sept 1970 [30 Sept 1969 8 Oct 1969 (2) 22 May 1970] 46234/70 Heading B5A The ink-feeding and writing core of a writing instrument is produced from polyvinylidene fluoride powder of particle size 10-300 Á and of bulk density 0À5-1À0 g./ml. and inherent viscosity at least 0À8 (measured in 4 g./l. solution of dimethyl formamide) by heating it in a metal mould at a temperature between the melting point of the polymer and 350‹ C. without application of external pressure, cooling and solidifying, removing it from the mould and then heating at a temperature between 70‹ C. and the melting point for at least 3 hours. It is preferably pre-heated before charging into the mould. The pen core produced is porous and has a uniform void distribution.
