Abstract

1282119 Dishwasher INDUSTRIE A ZANUSSI S pA 8 Sept 1969 [27 Sept 1968] 44376/69 Heading A4F A dishwashing machine comprises a rotatable basket (13), Fig. 1 (not shown) for articles to be washed, a withdrawable frame for supporting the basket 21, 22, a rotatable driving sprinkler 25 for supplying liquid and a clutch mechanism for transferring drive from the sprinkler to the basket which comprises a rotatable intermediate member 17 an arm 20 which rotates with the intermediate member and a pin 24 mounted on the sprinkler to transfer drive to the arm and thence via the intermediate member to the basket, the pin being movable between a first position in which it is disengaged from the arm when the sprinkler is inoperative and a second position in which it engages the arm when the sprinkler is in use, the distance between the axis of rotation of the sprinkler and the pin being shorter than the length of the arm. Basket support 14, which rotates about axis 15, carries a toothed ring 16 in mesh with a gear-wheel 17 mounted on arm 18 biased against toothed ring 16 by spring 19. Spinning sprinkler 25 with nozzles 26 and pin 24 is mounted below the frame. In use, water from the nozzles rotates the sprinkler and extends pin 24 which engages arm 20 to rotate gear-wheel 17 and hence the basket. If the frame is inserted so that sprinkler and gear-wheel 17 are not concentric, pin 24 still engages arm 20 to rotate the gear-wheel. The pin is slidable in a bush 30 on the sprinkler, Fig. 4, so that when water under pressure is admitted to the sprinkler the pin extends to engage the arm. A plain roller or belt drive may replace the gear drive described.
