1281993 Breaking necks of birds GORDON JOHNSON-STEPHENS Ltd 30 Oct 1969 [15 Nov 1968] 54430/68 Heading A2U In an apparatus for processing poultry and game birds, the neck of a bird suspended by its feet, is guided in slot 2 of table 1 between indented rotating wheels 8, 9 to dislocate the neck bone and the dislocated bone is then drawn away within the neck skin, from the body of the bird by holding the neck between rollers 12 and guiding the shoulders of the bird upwards by section 11 of parallel guide rails 5. The skin of the neck may be severed by adjustable rotating knife 14. The rollers 12 may counter-rotate. During passage of the neck between wheels 8, 9 the neck is held between conveying chains 7.
