Abstract

1281957 Lining and repairing dental prosthesis ETAB RIVOLAN 10 July 1970 33737/ 70 Heading ASR A method of lining or repairing a dental prostheis with a hardenable fluid plastics material comprises the steps of applying a solution of a cataylst capable of hardening said material to the desired parts of a greasefree surface of the prosthesis and thereafter applying under pressure the plastios material to said parts and allowing it to harden. The catalyst is preferably sprayed onto the prosthesis followed by application or spraying of the plastics material from a tube or pressure apparatus and a further application of catalyst to the applied plastics material. The plastics material may be a polymer or copolymer dissolved in its corresponding monomer or monomers and, for example, may be 35 parts by weight of polymethyl methacrylate in 63 parts by weight of methyl methacrylate and 2 parts by weight of N, N-dimethyl-p-toluidine, or a co-polymer, of ethyl methacrylate and butyl acrylate, in methyl methacrylate with added glycol dimethacrylate and N,N-diethanol-p-toluidine. The catalyst may include a plasticising agent and be dissolved in a volatile solvent and may, for example, comprise 10 parts by weight of benzoyl peroxide dissolved in 90 parts by weight of ethyl acetate or ethyl methyl ketone, or 35 parts by weight of benzoyl peroxide in 65 parts by weight of dibutyl phthalate. Other examples of suitable hardenable plastics materials and catalysts are disclosed.
