Abstract
1281805 Powder-coated steel panels SHELL INTERNATIONALE RESEARCH MAATSCHAPPIJ NV 19 Feb 1971 5004/71 Heading B2E [Also in Division C3] A powder coating composition curable by heat comprises a polyglycidyl ether of 2, 2- bis (4-hydroxy phenyl) propane having a Durrans' softening temperature between 60‹C and 140‹C; from 5 to 33 parts by weight of ethyl cellulose per 100 parts by weight of polyglycidyl ether; and a latent curing agent for the polyglycidyl ether; the components having been blended in the molten stage of the polyglycidyl ether and the blend having been cooled and pulverised. The curing agent may be phthalic anhydride, dicyandiamide, or an adduct of an epoxide with an imidazole having a secondary amino group in the ring or with diaminodiphenyl sulphone. The composition may be applied by fluidised bed coating, powder spray coating, flame spraying or electrostatic spraying. In an Example steel panels were coated by electrostatic spraying and cured at 180‹C for 15 minutes.
