Abstract

1280997 Measuring fluid density electrically SOLARTRON ELECTRONIC GROUP Ltd 17 Oct 1969 [29 Oct 1968] 51294/68 Heading G1N The resonent frequency of vibration of a tube secured at each end is a measure of the density of a fluid flowing through the tube. As shown Fig. 1, a ferromagnetic tube 11 is secured at each end to a block 12 and mechanically coupled by steel bellows 23 with rubber inserts 25 to pipe connections 21, whereby the test fluid flows through the tube 11. A drive coil 14 and two pick-up coils 15 electrically coupled via amplifier 17 are located to produce transverse vibration, preferably at the third harmonic frequency, which is measured at 32. The transducer is mounted in a sealed container 20 which may be filled with the same fluid, or a different fluid, or evacuated.
