1280802 Enzyme-containing detergent granules PROCTER & GAMBLE CO 9 Jan 1970 [10 Jan 1969] 1181/70 Heading C5D A free-flowing granular or powdered detergent composition comprises: (A) 0-50% by wt. of an anionic, non-ionic, amphoteric or zwitterionic organic detergent, or a mixture thereof; (B) 10- 80% by wt. of a water-soluble inorganic builder salt or mixture thereof, alone or in admixture with a water-soluble organic builder salt, or mixture thereof; (C) 0À1-8% by wt. of a watersoluble alkali metal salt, ester or C1-C2 alkyl. amide or C1-C2 alkylolamide of a copolymer of maleic anhydride and a vinyl compound of formula RCH=HCR, wherein one R is H or C1-C4 alkyl ether and the other R is H, or a mixture of such copolymers; (D) 0À01-5% by wt. of an enzyme or mixture of enzymes; and optionally (E) 5-50% by wt. of an organic or inorganic hydrogen peroxide addition compound or a mixture thereof. The copolymer is preferably the sodium or potassium salt, a monoethanolamide or a di-ethanolamide. The ester may be a C1-C10 aliphatic alcohol reaction product or the reaction product of the copolymer with a water-soluble condensation product of 6-25 mols of ethylene oxide with a C6-C18 aliphatic alcohol, with a C4-C12 alkyl substituted phenol, with condensated propylene oxide or with the reaction product of propylene oxide and ethylene diamine. Preferably only 5 to 60% of the carboxylic acid radicals of the copolymer are esterified or reacted with the C1-C2 alkylamine or C1-C2 alkylolamine. The enzymes may be any enzyme known to be useful in washing fabrics and which generally is admixed with an inert vehicle to provide a powder containing 2-80% of the enzyme. Many anionic (including soaps), nonionic (including amine oxides, sulphoxides and phosphine oxides) ampholytic and zwitterionic organic detergents and builder salts are listed. The bleaching agents may be urea peroxide, sodium perborate, potassium perborate, sodium carbonate peroxyhydrate and sodium pyrophosphate peroxyhydrate. Conventional adjuvants may also be present.
