Abstract
1280780 Polymer compositions SNIA VISCOSA SOC NAZIONALE INDUSTRIA APPLICAZIONI VISCOSA 29 Dec 1970 [31 Dec 1969] 61424/70 Heading C3R A moulding composition consists of a synthetic linear polyamide, a synthetic linear polyester, and glass fibres. Also present may be 0À5% wt. calcium stearate lubricant. The polymers may be nylon 6 or 66 and polyethylene terephthalate, and may be in the form of scrap. The glass fibres may be 1-6 mm. long and 6-10 mm. in diameter. The polyamide : polyester weight ratio may be from 90 : 10 to 50 : 50, and the glass-fibres : polymer weight ratio may be from 40 : 60 to 10 : 90. Moisture content may be <0À05%. The composition may be prepared by (1) mixing polyamide and polyester, homogenizing by warm extrusion, granulating and mixing with glass fibres, and (2) homogenizing by warm extrusion and granulating. Alternatively step (1) may be replaced by (1<SP>1</SP>) mixing together polyamide, polyester and glass fibres.
