Abstract

1,185,030. Colouring polyesters. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. 27 Nov., 1967 [19 Dec., 1966], No. 56753/66. Heading C3R. An indanthrone carboxylic acid or an ester thereof is used for the mass coloration of linear polyesters, e.g. polyethylene terephthalate. The colouring matter, in finely divided form may be added to the polyester and the resultant mixture melted and spun into filaments. Alternatively it may be added to the polymer forming components either at the beinning or during polymerization. The colouring material used in the example is indanthrone-6 : 15- dicarboxylic acid prepared as disclosed in Specification 231,555.
