Abstract

1279987 Machinery guards MOLINS MACHINE CO Ltd 14 Oct 1970 [15 Oct 1969] 50556/69 Heading F2J A guard 8, as described for the spindle 1 and tool 2 of a machine tool, comprises a flat strip wound in helical form with adjacent turns overlapping secured by a split ring 9 to a fixed plate 7 and to the spindle 1 so that movement of the tool towards and away from the workpiece 3 contracts and expands the guard. Stops formed by narrow strips secured to the edges of the helical strip or by turning over the said edges limit the adjustment of the guard and prevent adjacent turns disengaging. The strip may be stainless steel or other resilient material and the guard may be between any fixed and movable parts.
