Abstract
1279468 Fireproof sealing devices on aircraft ROLLS-ROYCE Ltd 22 Dec 1969 62549/69 Heading B7G [Also in Division F2] A substantially fireproof flexible sealing device for preventing fire in a gas turbine engine reaching an aircraft wing mounted pylon, comprises: an elongate leaf spring 22 bolted to a base member 24 along one edge by clamping strips 23, 34, and spaced apart from the base 24 at the other edge 28; and a flexible fireproof cover 30 extending across the space between the spring 22 and the base 24. The cover which may be made of asbestos sheet covered by sintered P.T.F.E. is clamped by the strips 32, 34. The device is bolted to a part 36 of the casing of a gas turbine engine and extends between the part 36 and the pylon floor 46 which may flex a distance x. The spring 22 may be formed with equispaced slots, Fig. 3 (not shown) and the device may form a substantially fireproof seal between a stub wing and an engine mounted thereon.
