Abstract
1279270 Dispensing measured quantities of granular material TECO SUPPLIES PTY Ltd 4 Dec 1969 [10 Dec 1968] 59289/69 Head. ing B8N A valve assembly for dispensing granular material comprises a tube 2 in which is jour. nailed spindles 7, 8 carrying valve plates 5, 6 respectively. The spindles are biased by springs 12 so that valve plate 5 is normally in an open position and vale plate 6 is normally in a closed position. A manually actuable rod 13 mounted for axial movement on bracket 14 has an annular member 17 secured thereto and an annular member 16 slidable thereon. A compression spring 15 is provided between the two members. Arms 18, 19 on the spindles 7, 8 co-act with the annular members 16, 17 respectively when the rod 13 is moved to the right (Fig. 1). In operation manual actuation of the rod initially causes member 16 to contact and move arm 18 thus rotating spindle 7 and moving valve plate 5 to a closed position. Continued movement of rod 13 causes compression of spring 15 and then engagement and movement of the arm 19 by the member 17. Thus the valve plate 6 is moved to an open position whilst the valve plate 5 is retained in its closed position. Upon release of the rod 13 the springs 12, 15 will return the movable parts of the assembly to the positions of Figs. 1 and 5 with the valve plate 6 moving to its closed position before valve plate 5 can move from its closed position. An agitator 23 is attached to the valve plate 5. Alternatively the agitator may be attached to to the spindle 7.
