Abstract

1278902 Ointment base SANKYO CO Ltd 9 Feb 1970 [8 Feb 1969 27 Dec 1969] 6191/70 Heading A5B An ointment base comprises (I) a dispersion medium which is liquid at 20-30‹C and is either a triglyceride of formula: in which R<SP>1</SP>, R<SP>2</SP> and R<SP>3</SP> are the same or different and each is an aliphatic acyl group, at least one of R<SP>1</SP>, R<SP>2</SP> and R<SP>3</SP> containing from 9-19 carbon atoms, or a mixture of an ester of a dibasic aliphatic carboxylic acid and an ester of salicylic acid; (2) silicic acid anhydride; and (3) a surface active agent which is a nonionic surface active agent, a fatty acid polyoxyethylene phosphate, a fatty alcoholpolyoxyethylene phosphate, lecithin, an alkylsulphate, a fatty acid-polypeptide condensate or an ampholytic surface active agent of the carboxylic acid type. Other additives such as water, liquid paraffin, squalene and fatty acid esters may also be present. The base may be combined with known medicaments, a number of which are specified.
