1278404 Centrifugal fluid vane type compressor NETHERLANDS APPLIED SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH FOR INDUSTRY TRADE AND COMMERCE 25 Feb 1970 [25 Feb 1969] 9077/70 Heading F1C The invention relates to a centrifugal fluid vane type compressor which comprises a driven rotor 2 which is formed with ducts 9 for discharge of liquid which upon rotation of the rotor forms liquid vanes which effect compression of gaseous medium. The rotor 8 is disposed within a casing 1 having an air inlet 8 and an outlet 18, the rotor being mounted on a shaft 3 which is driven by a motor 6. The rotor is formed with vanes 7 so that upon rotation air is drawn in through the inlet 8 and partly compressed, the air being further compressed by the action of the liquid vanes formed by streams of water discharging from the ducts 9, the compressed air discharging through a lateral outlet 17 to the outlet 18. A wall or disc member 13 is disposed within the casing 1 adjacent one wall thereof and forms one wall of the space in which the liquid vanes are formed. The wall 13 is mounted on a shaft 14 for rotation and carries at its periphery a series of curved blades 15 such that water after forming the liquid vanes acts on the blades 15 so as to rotate the wall 13 and shaft 14, the wall and blades constituting a hydraulic turbine which may supply power through shaft 14. The water is returned from the casing 1 to the tank 12 and is recirculated by the pump 11. A curved perforated screen 16 is associated with the blades 15 and acts to direct the air from the liquid vanes towards the outlet 17 while allowing the water to pass through to the blades 15.
