Abstract

1278212 Puffing tobacco stems PHILIP MORRIS Inc 8 April 1970 [10 April 1969] 16800/70 Addition to 1138899 Heading A2C The method of the Parent Specification is modified by the use of a hot gas, such as air, at a temperature of from 200‹F to less than 392‹F. Where burley stems are treated they are first extracted with water or a mixture of 85% isopropyl alcohol and 15% water by volume to reduce their nitrate content before puffing, and nitrogen is used as the gas.
