Abstract
1277955 Cooling dynamo-electric machines TOKYO SHIBAURA ELECTRIC CO Ltd 30 Sept 1969 [1 Oct 1968 (5)] 47991/69 Heading H2A In a liquid cooled dynamo-electric machine, e.g. motor, comprising a stator A carrying a main winding 3, and a motor B, a non-magnetic cylindrical shielding member 32 at least partially surrounds the rotor and has its opposite ends fixed in a liquid tight manner to stationary members of the machine, and means e.g. nozzles 4a, 4b spray cooling, liquid e.g. oil on high temperature portions of the stator e.g. the end turns of winding 3. The member 32 may be of laminated glass cloth impregnated with epoxide resin and comprise either the single piece shown, which may be longitudinally slit (Fig. 4) to permit it to grip the stator bore or, (Fig. 1), two pieces connected to respective core end plates (31). At its outer ends the member(s) 32 are sealed to housings 25a, 25b. containing field coils 24a, 24b and through which a coolant liquid circulated from conduits 5a, 5b. The rotor comprises interdigitated polepieces 13 whose intervening gaps are filled with resin or cast Al. and which are mounted on respective shafts 11a, 11b mutually coupled by a non-magnetic shaft 12.
