Abstract

1277665 Photo-copying apparatus KALLE AG 17 Dec 1969 [23 Dec 1968 and 11 Sept 1969] 61391/69 Headings G2A and G2H In photo-copying apparatus, the original 2 and copy sheet 4 are conveyed past opposite ends of a bar-like fibre optics element 12, the members 2, 4 moving in opposite directions and each being spaced from the appropriate end of the element 12 by optically clear films 10, 17 which travel with the appropriate member 2, 4. As shown, two distinct lengths of film 10 are provided, each being advanced between rollers and rewound in between the copying of successive masters. In another embodiment, Fig. 5 (not shown), separate portions of the same film (10) are used to convey the members (2, 4), or alternatively a continuous band of film may be used. To facilitate movement of the film 10 over the ends of the elements, thin films 25 of oil are applied by devices 29, the oil being removed by dry felt strips 35. As shown, the apparatus is provided with a needle corona 6; a contact switch 9 which, when tripped by the changed copy sheet, actuates a feed mechanism for the original; a tubular lamp 7 having an elliptic reflector 15; a mirror 16 which projects an image of the lamp 7 through the spacing film 10 on to the original 2 while it is directly over the element 12; a developing trough 21; and a ventilator 8. The copy paper 4 is pressed against the film 17 at one end of the element 12 by means of an elastic roller 20, there being a flexibly mounted pressure roller 11 acting on the original 2. Fig.2 (not shown) provides a corresponding apparatus adapted for the preparation of copies from books. The magnification ratio is normally 1:1, but by using different driving speeds for the original and copy sheet, the scale of reproduction may be varied in one dimension.
