Abstract

1277354 Hardening wheel rims ITALSIDER SpA 3 April 1970 [15 April 1969] 15996/70 Heading C7N The peripheral surface 2 of a body of rotation 1, particularly a railway wheel, is hardened by heating the whole body and then resting it on the inner wall 4 of an annular conduit 5 whose outer wall 6 is of greater height than the inner one, whereby the surface to be hardened forms an extension of the inner wall; coolant fluid 7 is circulated through the conduit. A further annular element corresponding in diameter to wall 4 may be arranged above and in contact with the workpiece to increase coolant depth.
