Abstract
1276837 Permanent magnet generators GENERAL MOTORS Ltd 10 July 1969 [13 July 1968 27 Dec 1968] 33539/68 and 66121/68 Heading H2A A voltage generator 2 for the control system of a motor 1 is mounted in the end of the motor, consists of a rotating permanent magnet 4 which causes variations in the flux through the armature 8 of a fixed coil 3. The output is varied by adjusting the magnetic shunt provided by screw 12 and temperature variation is reduced by placing a further temperature sensitive shunt 15, Fig. 2, adjacent the annular magnet 14, which is heat insulated from the motor shaft by plastics bushes 16. The generator is screened from motor flux by the plate 10 and core 11. The coil 3 may be symmetrically mounted on armature 8, Fig. 4 (not shown), and in a further arrangement, Fig. 5 (not shown), the coil 3 is mounted so that flux may be varied by means of a screw passing through the coil and the base of a U-shaped armature 8.
