Abstract

1276760 Brushes; mats J C LEWIS Jnr 10 July 1970 [18 March 1970] 33624/70 Headings A4K and A4S [Also in Division D1] In the manufacture of a tufted article, e.g. a brush or mat, comprising tufts 102 of thermoplastics material fused at one end to a filament 104 of polypropylene embedded in a rigid or flexible polyurethane or polyether foam 105, the filament having the tufts fused thereto is coated with the foam pre-mix composition which is foamed and cured about the filament. The brush may be made in the form of a cylinder with the tufts extending outwardly therefrom. The filaments of the tufts may be circular, triangular polygonal, starshaped, X-shaped or Y-shaped in cross-section.
