Abstract

1276705 #-Caprolactam LEUNA-WERKE WALTER ULBRICHT VEB 19 Dec 1969 62064/69 Heading C2C #-Caprolactam is prepared from a solution of pentamethylene oxaziridine (i.e. cyclohexanone isoxime) in an organic solvent which contains no active hydrogen atoms by either (i) heating the solution to a temperature of from 250‹ to 350‹ C., or (ii) extracting pentamethylene oxaziridine from the said solution by means of highly concentrated H 2 SO 4 , and subjecting the resulting acidic solution to a Beckmann rearrangement at a temperature of between 80‹ and 150‹ C.
