Abstract

1276291 Motor cycle supports P W BOTHWELL 27 Aug 1969 [1 July 1968 (2)] 27/68 and 12554/68 Heading B7J. A motor cycle having an enclosed body has on each side a support member comprising a pair of levers 1 and 2 rotatable about a transverse rod 3, the levers supporting a platform 4 and each support member being sealed on the outboard side by an upstanding plate 5 and on the inboard side by a flexible weatherproof lining 6. The levers 1 and 2 can be lowered into an operative position by a foot of the rider and the undersides of the levers are covered with a wear-resisting material in a row to grip the road surface. A hand lever 9 provided with a releasable catch 10 is used to lock the levers 1 and 2 in the operative position when the rider wishes to vacate the motor cycle. In another embodiment (not shown), the support members are operated hydraulically, the rider applying pressure with a foot on the pedal so as to cause movement of a piston in a master cylinder connected to a slave cylinder for each support member. The slave. cylinders may be operated independently of each other by the incorporation of a valve in the hydraulic circuit whereby the motor cycle may be stabilized on a sloping surface.
