Abstract

1275552 Supporting tractors J BAXTER 3 June 1969 [8 March 1968] 11304/68 Heading B7J [Also in Division B8] A jacking member 10 is used to jack up the rear wheels 3 of a tractor utilizing the hitch mechanism 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 of the tractor. The jacking member 10 comprises a pair of legs 11, 12 with two bends 26, 28 of approximately 140 degrees in opposite senses and the legs 11, 12 are interconnected by a transverse member 13 which forms a ground engaging portion. In use, the free ends of the legs 11, 12 are connected to the trailing lower links 8 of the hitch mechanism by a pin 14 and an hydraulically rotatable shaft 6 of the mechanism is rotated anticlockwise; upwardly facing bearing surfaces 21, 22 of the legs 11, 12 come into engagement with respective downwardly facing surfaces 23 of the links 8, and the jacking member 10 is rotated about its point of contact with the ground to move the tractor upwardly and forwardly and raise the rear wheels 3. The front wheels 2 may be raised by utilizing a stand 15 attached to the member 10 by a chain or cable 30. The stand 15 has arms 16, 17 connected by a transverse ground engaging rod 18 and a bracing rod 19 and with members 20 at their ends which engage the underside of the tractor front axle 24. As the shaft 6 is rotated to raise the rear wheels 3 the stand 15 pivots to also raise the front wheels 2.
