Abstract

1275042 Laminates NATIONAL RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT CORP 2 April 1969 [25 Jan 1968] 3851/68 Headings B5A and B5N [Also in Divisions C3 and D2] A moulding composition comprises an agglomerated mixture of dehydrated or partially dehydrated waste effluent from a paper-making machine containing vegetable fibres of below 1/16 inch average fibre length, the effluent being mixed with textile and/or mineral fibres of average fibre length 1/16-5 inches before dehydration. This may be layered on to a base, between two parallel runners, covered, e.g. by polyethylene sheeting, rolled to compress the board, and oven-dried. The board may be enclosed in the rolling step. The moulding composition may alternatively be moulded to give an edging strip, or moulded on to a mineral fibre batten. The board may be used as a surface or core lamination in a fireproof board, or it may be laminated with perforated metal or plastics sheeting or wire mesh.
