Abstract
1,274,806. Coffee. PROCTER & GAMBLE CO. 12 May, 1970 [12 May, 1969], No. 22878/ 70. Heading A2B. Flakes of roasted and ground coffee, having a bulk density of 0.38-0.50 gms/cc, a flake thickness of 0.008-0.025 inch, and a moisture content of 2.5-7.0 wt%, may be prepared by passing particles of roasted and ground coffee through a pressure nip formed between two parallel and substantially smooth rollers. The flakes preferably have a colour on the Hunter 'L' scale of 18-23. Preferably 3-10% of the flakes pass on 40 mesh U.S. standard screen. Preferably at least 70% of the coffee cells exhibit disruption. The coffee may be low and/or intermediate grade, decaffeinated or undecaffeinated.
