1,274,696. Tungsten boride coating. ECOLE NATIONALE SUPERIEURE DES MINES DE PARIS, and SOCIETE NATIONALE D'ETUDE ET DE CONSTRUCTION DE MOTEURS D'AVIATION. Dec. 3, 1969 [Dec. 10, 1968], No.59023/69. Heading C7F. [Also in Division C1] An article, preferably filamentary, comprising a core of tungsten, coated with one or more tungsten borides of which at least 80% is W 2 B 5 is produced by heating a core of tungsten surrounded by a layer of boron to 1050-1150 C. The layer of boron may be produced by heating the tungsten in a boron halide atmosphere. The heating may be achieved by passing an electric current through the tungsten.
