Abstract

1,274,089. Reagent for stabilizing blood platelets. ARMOUR PHARMACEUTICAL CO. 23 Dec., 1969 [23 Dec., 1968], No. 62685/ 69. Heading B1X. A reagent for stabilizing blood platelets in samples of fresh blood or platelet-rich plasma comprises a "pharmaceutical carrier" and pyridazine. The "pharmaceutical carrier" is a solution of ammonium oxalate or tris (hydroxymethyl) aminomethane or a liquid comprising an anticoagulant, for example heparin, sodium citrate, sodium oxalate, EDTA. The reagent may contain 4 to 10 mg pyridazine per 1 ml carrier. Preferred carriers are 1% ammonium oxalate; 0.1 M tris methane pH 7.6. The stabilized sample may be tested to determine its blood platelet concentration.
