A dispensing valve 10, e.g. for lubricant, comprises a generally cylindrical housing 11, a non- return inlet valve 13, an outlet opening 32, a sleeve 14 defining with the housing 11 a communication chamber 24, a piston 19 slidable within the sleeve 14 and defining with the sleeve 14 a reservoir 31, and resilient means 20 biasing the piston 19 towards maximum reservoir size. Admission of liquid under pressure through the inlet valve 13 acts on the piston 19 to discharge the reservoir 31 through the outlet 32, while liquid flows through the chamber 24 to the reservoir 31 on releasing the pressure. On applying an inlet pressure to the valve 10, the valve member 13 is raised, and a lipped sealing ring 21 is urged into engagement with a base portion 15 of the sleeve 14, a spring-urged ball 34 being raised from its seating to allow inlet fluid to pass through a base aperture 16 and act on the piston 19 to discharge the contents of the reservoir 31. On releasing the pressure, the valve 13 returns to closed position, the ring 21 becoming inoperative, and the spring 20 acts to return the piston 19, the fluid below it flowing through recesses 23, the chamber 24, recesses 27 and a slot 26 in a tubular member 25 to refill the reservoir 31. A range of members 25 of different length allows adjustment of the reservoir capacity.
