Abstract

1,272,850. Air-flow direction indicators; measuring fluid-flow. FERRANTI Ltd. Dec. 8, 1970 [Dec. 15, 1969], No.60918/69. Headings G1N and G1R. An air-flow direction indicator comprises a wind vane 18, Fig. 1, mounted on a draft 16, Fig. 4 (not shown) located inside a hollow shaft 14, the shafts carrying the elements 28, 29, 31 of a follow-up switch, so that when the wind vane and inner shaft are rotated by the wind, the follow-up switch closes the energization circuit for a motor 24 which drives the outer shaft to follow the wind vane, simultaneously driving the slider 35 of a potentiometer 36 for measurement of the angular position of the vane. The outer ends of shafts 14, 16 are closed by a flexible seal 32.
