1,272,409. Inductors. KUIBYSHEVSKY ORDENA TRUDOVOGO KRASNOGO ZNAMENI AVIATSIONNY INSTITUT IM AKADEMIKA, S. P. KOROLEVA. 26 July, 1969, No. 37645/69. Heading H1T. [Also in Division G1] A transducer comprises an inductance coil 2 wound on a ferrite core 1 having gaps plugged with copper or silver plugs 3, 4 which cause magnetic flux leakage from the core which flux is applied to unspecified metal articles to, measure the thickness of surface coatings thereon or the surface profile thereof, by producing eddy currents in the articles. The plugs protrude into a space confined by the core whereby the stray flux Ns is directed externally of the core. A screening layer (5), Figs. 2-4, not shown, of copper is applied over the core up to the boundary lines 6, 7 so as to prevent flux leakage except at the plugs. In an alternative embodiment the transducer may have one plug and no screening layer. It is stated that the transducer may form part of a measuring bridge or a resonance measuring circuit.
