Abstract
1,271,692. Taking up slack in flexible elements. WESTINGHOUSE ELECTRIC CORP. 23 June, 1969 [11 July, 1968], No. 31657/69. Heading B8B. An apparatus for supporting flexible power cables 15 extending between a stationary structure 20 and a movable carriage 10, comprises a transversely concave-convex spring steel strip formed in a loop 32 between two straight legs 30, 34 secured to the carriage 10 and structure 20, and fasteners 48 secured to the strip for supporting the cables 15 therealong. The fasteners 48 each comprise a trough port longitudinally slidingly secured to the strip 10, and a closure port releasably secured thereto, the trough ports being laterally constrained and supported along the leg 30 by one of a pair of L-shaped guide rails 11 for the carriage, and along the leg 34 by an L-shaped guide rail 44. Alternatively, the leg portions may be simply supported in cantilever fashion from their end securing points. In another embodiment, Fig. 7 (not shown), the loop portion of the strip and cables is supported in an arcuate guide groove.
