Abstract

1,271,477. Gravity separation of solids from fluids. GOTVERKENS ANGTEKNISKA A.B. 25 June, 1970 [1 July, 1969], No. 30792/70. Heading B1D. Apparatus for the gravity separation of solid matter from a flowing fluid comprises an inlet chamber 10 and an outlet chamber 11 separated by a plurality of tubes 14 each having at least one outlet opening 16 in the bottom thereof, the outlets being arranged in groups lying in vertical planes. Solid particles if heavier than the fluid will tend to sink towards the bottom of the tubes and pass out of the outlet openings to conduits 17. Baffles 18 are fitted each side of each group of outlets to prevent the outflow from these openings disturbing the flow in the tubes below. If the solid particles to be separated are lighter than the fluid, then the outlets 16 are in the top of the tubes 14 instead of the bottom.
