Abstract

1,271,041. Caprolactam. COURTAULDS Ltd. 9 Sept., 1969 [10 Sept., 1968], No. 42931/68. Heading C2C. #-Caprolactam is recovered from wash liquor from the water-washing of polycapro-amide extrudates by catalytically hydrogenating the wash liquor to decolorize volatile impurities and distilling first the water and then monomeric caprolactam from the liquor. The distillation residue may be heated with acid to depolymerize oligomeric polycaproamide, followed by distillation to separate caprolactam.
