Abstract

1,270,966. Extrusion - blow - moulding. E. KORSCH, H. KORSCH, and G. KORSCH, [trading as EMIL KORSCH]. 17 July, 1969 [17 July, 1968], No. 36154/69. Heading B5A. Extrusion-blow-moulding apparatus, Figs. 1, 2, comprises an extrusion nozzle 7a to extrude a parison 21 downwardly, blow mould halves 15, knife 23 to cut the parison, a frame 10 supporting cylinders 11 to open and close the mould halves along beams 14 and cylinders 28 to raise and lower the mould halves within the frame, and a cylinder 19 to move the frame and blow mould laterally to a blowing station A having a reciprocable blow nozzle 4. The tube 21 is continuously extruded, the blow mould halves in their raised position are closed around it, pinching it closed at its lower end, and the parison is then severed at its upper end by knife 23. The blow mould is then lowered within the frame and either simultaneously or subsequently, the frame and blow mould are moved to blowing station A where blowing nozzle 4 is lowered, the article formed, the mould halves opened and the nozzle then withdrawn with the article which is then stripped therefrom. The open mould and frame are then raised and moved back below the extruder for the subsequent cycle. Initial mould closure may be effected at low pressure, and then at maximum pressure only when downward movement is completed.
