Abstract

1,270,355. Door closer. DORKEN & MANKEL K.G. 9 Sept., 1970 [30 Sept., 1969], No. 43174/70. Heading E2M. In an automatic door closer having a hydraulic piston and cylinder check 25, 22 with a movable member, e.g. the piston and rod 25, 20, coupled to a closer shaft 13; a closer spring 26 co-axial with the cylinder 22 and having one end bearing against a movable abutment, e.g. the piston 25, coupled to the shaft 13 and the other end against a stationary support 29, the piston rod extends through an end wall 23 of the cylinder, the end wall and piston defining therebetween the working chamber 38 which is situated between the piston and the closer shaft. A sleeve 37, sealingly engaging the shaft 20 and permitted limited axial movement between the end wall 23 and a catch ring 35, acts as a non-return valve so that, during closing movement, the sleeve bears against the wall 23 to seal a passage through the wall. A throttle 39 connects the working chamber 38 with the housing 10. The support 29 threadedly engages a pin 32. A slide and roller 18 on the piston rod 20 engage a cam 14 on the shaft 13. A gudgeon pin 24 connects the piston to the rod. The piston may be fixed and the cylinder coupled to the shaft 13.
