Abstract
1,270,076. Feeding material to hoppers; endless conveyers. V. GREGOR. 13 Nov., 1970, No. 54071/70. Headings B8A and B8S. Material is fed to a storage hopper 15, Fig. 1, by a bucket conveyer 12 and a shoot 14 which travels to and fro along the length of the hopper so as to fill the hopper evenly from right to left under the control of sensor means located below the shoot. The conveyer 12 is supplied by a vibrating shoot 13 and the buckets 18, Fig. 7, are tipped by a cam 22 on the shoot 14 as the conveyer moves over the shoot. The hopper is discharged into a vibrating shoot 17, Fig. 2, by an endless conveyer 16. The shoot 14 automatically moves between switches 120, 121 located at opposite ends of the hopper but this movement is modified by the amount of material in the hopper as indicated by the sensor means. The shoot 14 is also vibrated and the material falls through slot 84, Fig. 1. The discharge conveyer 16 operates intermittently and is controlled by photo-cells which detect material in the delivery shoot 17. The arrangement ensures that material leaves the hopper in the same sequence as it enters. Fig. 9 (not shown) illustrates a control circuit. The circuit controlling the movement of the shoot 14 towards the right-hand end of the hopper incorporates a time delay.
