Abstract
1,269,835. Multicolour dyeing. CIBA-GEIGY A.G. 16 July, 1969 [18 July, 1968], No. 35884/69. Headings D1B and D1L. Multicoloured yarn is made by passing a knitted fabric through a padding mangle while applying a plurality of dyestuffs from independent and regulatable supplies through nozzles which are moveable transversely to the fabric, which is unravelled following dyefixation. The nozzles may be reciprocated automatically or manually or may be preset in fixed positions for a given run. As described the dye is allowed to flow onto one roller of the mangle and is thus conveyed into the nip. Example fabrics are polyamide and polyester types and example dyestuffs are of the anthraquinone, azo (including metal complex) or phthalocyanine types. Many other fabrics and dyes are listed. The dye vehicle may be a paste of, e.g. sodium alginate or locust bean flour with sodium nitrobenzene sulphonate, pine oil, olein, KOH and water (for anthraquinone dyes) or of locust bean flour or crystal gum with urea, thiodiglycol, ammonium sulphate, water and optionally phenol (for azo or phthalocyanine dyes).
