[Also in Division G2] 1 - D - glucono - 2 - phenylhydrazide, 1 -D-galactono - 2 - phenylhydrazide and 1 - (D - glycero- D - gulo - heptono) - 2 - phenylhydrazide are made by heating glucono-1: 5-lactone, D- galactono-1: 4-lactone and D-glycero-D-guloheptono-1: 4-lactone respectively with phenylhydrazine.
