Abstract

1,269,527. Air flow regulators. DYNAMICS CORP. OF AMERICA. 20 May, 1969 [28 May, 1968], No. 25700/69. Heading F4V. [Also in Division F2] An air flow regulator for air conditioning systems comprises a housing 10 with a generally rectangular air passageway 16 in which are mounted a pair of pivoted vanes 28 which can be adjusted to a number of discrete positions to select an appropriate air flow through the passage and also a pair of pivoted vanes 30 movable against the biasing force of a spring 82 by the air inlet pressure to maintain the air flow constant at the rate selected by the vanes 28. The vanes 28 are connected by links 36 and a guide rod 38 to a lever 48 adjustable by an air cylinder 42 under the control of a room thermostat. Alternatively the lever 48 may be adjusted manually. The vanes 30 are similarly connected at their upstream ends to pairs of links 80 each pair having a common pivot pin 84, 84a carried by a member 86 surrounding the spring 82 and connected to a U-shaped member 88 to which one end of the spring is anchored at 96. The spring 82 is adjusted by a pin 102 acting botween its upper coils and carried by a member 100 rotatably adjustable by a threaded rod 108 in a collar 106. The pin 84a is guided in a slotted bracket 90. The U-shaped member 88 is connected to a damping bellows 118. Lateral extensions 126 from the housing walls promote high frequency noise which is more easily attenuated.
