1,269,448. Apparatus for clearing drainage dykes. B. R. MOYSES and D. MOYSES. 4 Sept., 1970, No. 42527/70. Heading A1F. [Also in Division El] Apparatus for clearing drainage dykes of unwanted vegetation and the like comprises a rectangular framework 12 to which is secured a series of D-shaped parallel rods 22. The framework 12 is made up of beams 14, 16, 18 and a fixed knife bar 20 with tapering prongs 23 which cooperate with a reciprocating cutter bar 24. The cutter bar 24 carries a series of V- shaped serrated edges 26, and is reciprocated by the flywheel 30 and connecting rod 28 of a hydraulic motor 32, situated 'at one end of the framework 12. The beam 14 is strengthened by a web 34, and has a bracket 36 to facilitate its connection to an excavator or similar machine. The beam 14 may be hollow to serve as an oil reservoir providing a drip feed to the connecting rod 28. In addition the D- shaped rods could be replaced by others of a different shape, or by a wire mesh.
