Abstract

1,269,057. Smoking mixture. COURTAULDS Ltd. 25 July, 1969 [26 July, 1968; 9 Dec., 1968], Nos. 35783/68 and 58267/68. Heading A2C. A smoking mixture is produced by separating the flavouring substances from tobacco leaf and supporting them on a substrate which comprises regenerated cellulose fibres. The cellulose fibres are preferably treated with a dilute alkali solution. At least 2% by weight of magnesium sulphate, ferric sulphate, or the nitrates and sulphates of cobalt, chromium, lithium, sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium and manganese may be incorporated in the fibres. Oxidants, such as alkali metal nitrates or persulphates may also be added.
