Abstract

1,268,172. Artificial trees. MR. CHRISTMAS Inc. Jan.12, 1970 [Feb.18, 1969], No.1418/70. Heading A4X. The branches 14 of an artificial christmas tree are pivotally mounted on the trunk 12 by the engagement of ends 24, 26 of the branches 14 in diametrically opposed apertures 32 in the tree trunk. The branch 14 is mounted on the trunk by inserting the end through a longitudinal slot 30 and rotating the branch through 90 degrees until the ends engage in the apertures 32. On inserting the tree, lower end first, into a tubular container (C), Figs.1-2 and 9-10 (not shown) the branches 14 pivot upwardly so that they are substantially parallel to the trunk. On removing the tree, upper end first, from the container the branches move by gravity to an unfolded position. In a modification Fig. 16 (not shown) the end portions 138, 140 of the branches embrace the trunk and engage in apertures 116, 118 which are off-set from the diameter of the trunk 112.
