Abstract

1,267,845. Welding by fusion. G. CORNER & CO. Ltd. 20 Nov., 1970 [21 Nov., 1969], No. 57136/69. Heading B3R. [Also in Division H2] A method of providing a terminal for a laminated aluminium or aluminium alloy conductor 2 comprises welding an aluminium block in an opening 3 of the conductor such that the length of the weld is longer than a weld along the width of the conductor. The block is provided with a flange 6 and a plate 7 to strengthen the terminal, the flange being integral with the block and the plate being welded thereto. The flange 6 may be recessed adjacent the block for receiving weld slag. The welding may be carried out in an atmosphere of inert gas. (For Figure see next page)
