Abstract

1,267,319. Magnetic heads. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd. 16 Nov., 1970, No. 54402/70. Heading G5R. A multitrack magnetic head comprises a plurality of individual heads arranged side by side, each individual head including two conductive strips joined at one end by a conductive link to form substantially a U-shape around which in the region of the link is located a gapped loop of ferromagnetic material. The multitrack head may be formed by etching, cutting and folding as shown in: Fig. 2. a laminate comprising layers of a plastics material 1, copper 2 and nickel iron 3. Alternatively, Fig. 4 (not shown), a laminate of copper and polyester is selectively etched and the gapped ferromagnetic loops are formed either by deposition or by hooking the teeth of a comb-like structure of ferromagnetic material round the conductive links and then parting the spine of the comb from the teeth which are held in position by encapsulation.
